September Reading Wrap Up
Another month of reading is completed! Claire and I love to share the books we’ve been enjoying lately with you all! It’s definitely been a diverse reading month for me – everything from classics to middle grade to fantasy to historical fiction to suspense/thriller and everything in between. I also hit my reading goal for 2020 this month! My Goodreads goal was to read 100 books. I finished my 100th book on September 30th. I set a pretty lofty goal this year, so I was thrilled when I reached it. (This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase…

My Honest Review of MBF + MBFA
A few months ago, I wrote a review on 10 Rounds, one of Beachbody’s newer fitness programs. It was the first review I’d written about Beachbody. Surprisingly, it skyrocketed to the most popular post I’d ever written. One of the reasons I felt compelled to write a review on a Beachbody program is that I’m not a coach. I got tired of looking at reviews by people who wanted you to try a new workout program, because they earned money if you did. It seemed like they never had anything negative to say about a program, because they were trying to sell you something. This felt disingenuous, so I wanted…

Curriculum Review: Miquon Math
Math. It seems to be the most dreaded subject for many students and parents alike. And when you’re the one in charge of educating your child, math seems that much more daunting. Enter Miquon. Miquon Math is totally different than most math curriculums out there and when I was considering using it, it was difficult to find much information on it. I thought I would share my thoughts on this little known math curriculum. (While this isn’t a sponsored post, this post does contain affiliate links. Curriculum Review: Brave Writer’s Jot It Down!
Time for another curriculum review! If you’ve been a reader for a while, you’ve likely noticed our love for Brave Writer. In fact, as we’ve grown and explored our homeschool style, we’ve switched up every area of our curriculum except for Brave Writer! Brave Writer is a language arts program. It’s unique in the way it addresses the different aspects of writing. They offer literature guides (Dart for ages 8-10, Arrow for ages 11-12 and Boomerang for junior high and high school) that teach the mechanics of writing (grammar, punctuation, etc) through copywork and amazing read alouds. You can check out my review of the Arrow guides here. For helping a child…

What We’ve Been Reading Lately – August 2020 Edition
It’s that time again! I love sharing our reads at the end of each month! I’m a little late this month, but hopefully you’ll forgive me 😉 As we’ve started back to school, our read alouds have dropped off a bit, but I’m trying to make an effort to read books together outside of school as well. Let’s dive in! (This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase a product from a link on this page. Curriculum Review: Brave Writer Arrow Guides
It’s curriculum review time again! I’ve been enjoying writing reviews about curriculums we have used, especially ones we’ve enjoyed. Today I’m talking about my all time favorite curriculum … Brave Writer! As we’ve found our footing in homeschooling, there has been a lot of changes we’ve made, particularly with curriculum. Brave Writer is the only thing that has remained the same. This is our third year using Brave Writer. It has worked so well for us and is something we look forward to in our homeschool day. There are many components to Brave Writer’s curriculum, but today I’m going to be reviewing the Arrow guides. I’m also writing a review on…

Curriculum Review: Life of Fred Elementary Math
Today I wanted to take some time to review one of our favorite curriculums – Life of Fred! Math was my least favorite subject growing up. I was homeschooled from the middle of third grade all the way to the end of high school and our math curriculum was usually Saxon math. If you were homeschooled, you probably have some form of loathing to this day toward Saxon 😜 One of my biggest goals in homeschooling was to find some way to make math fun. While I haven’t been entirely successful with that (math doesn’t come as naturally to Claire as some of her other subjects), Life of Fred has…

What We’ve Been Reading Lately: July 2020 Edition
Another month, another “What We’ve Been Reading Lately” post! Claire and I love sharing the books we’ve been enjoying lately with all of you! July was a particularly prolific reading month for me, for some reason. I read a lot more than normal, despite planning the upcoming homeschool year, doing some de-cluttering projects and keeping up with normal life. Not sure how I managed to get so many books in, but I’m not mad about it. I’m not including every book I read, but I’m including a lot, because I read some really amazing books this month. Grab a coffee and settle in, because this post is going to be…

Our 3rd Grade Curriculum Choices
I probably sound like a broken record, but I can’t believe it’s almost time to start school again! This year, I will have a third grader, which is even harder to believe! Why this child keeps growing up this quickly is beyond me, but I wish I could freeze time. Second grade was one of our best homeschool years yet! We’ve finally settled into a groove of what feels natural, both with my teaching style and Claire’s learning style. If you’re interested why we chose to homeschool, check out this post (This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase…
