What We’ve Been Reading Lately – August 2020 Edition
It’s that time again! I love sharing our reads at the end of each month! I’m a little late this month, but hopefully you’ll forgive me 😉 As we’ve started back to school, our read alouds have dropped off a bit, but I’m trying to make an effort to read books together outside of school as well. Let’s dive in! (This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase a product from a link on this page. What We’ve Been Reading Lately: July 2020 Edition
Another month, another “What We’ve Been Reading Lately” post! Claire and I love sharing the books we’ve been enjoying lately with all of you! July was a particularly prolific reading month for me, for some reason. I read a lot more than normal, despite planning the upcoming homeschool year, doing some de-cluttering projects and keeping up with normal life. Not sure how I managed to get so many books in, but I’m not mad about it. I’m not including every book I read, but I’m including a lot, because I read some really amazing books this month. Grab a coffee and settle in, because this post is going to be…

What We’ve Been Reading Lately – June 2020 Edition
Welcome to another edition of What We’ve Been Reading Lately! Claire and I love being able to share some of the books we’ve enjoyed during the month. If you’ve been a reader (or a friend) for any length of time, you know that we’re both fairly prolific readers. That being said, we don’t share every single book we read each month. That would be an insanely long post! But we love to give you the highlights (and sometimes the lowlights 😉). What I’ve Been Reading The Maltese Falcon This book was kinda lame, if I’m being entirely honest. I decided to read it after it played a role in Book…

What We’ve Been Reading Lately – May 2020 Edition
(This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase a product from a link on this page. To read more about this, check out our disclosure page here. Thanks for supporting Beautiful Minutiae!) I received a lot of positive feedback from the last blog post where I shared what we’d been reading. I’ve really enjoyed typing out reviews, revisiting my thoughts on certain books and also kind of keeping a log of what we’re reading. I also frequently share book reviews on my Instagram page (@beautifulminutiae), so feel free to pop over there and check those out as well. They’re…

Top 10 Must Read Agatha Christie Novels
I love Agatha Christie. For some reason, I never read any of her books until last summer. Once I began reading her books, I was hooked! At this point, I have read all but a few of her books and thought I would make a top 10 list of my favorites. If you’re new to Agatha Christie, some of these books will be a good jumping off point. If you’ve read her books before, there may be a few on this list that surprise you. Without further ado, here are my top 10, favorite of the favorites, must-read Agatha Christie novels. What We’ve Been Reading – April 2020 Edition
It’s been an interesting month. I’m sure the same is true for you. Almost nationwide, there was a shelter in place order and pretty much everything was closed (it’s still that way here). Though we were very thankful that we were used to staying home anyway (homeschool life), the difference was definitely still felt. No zoo trips, no going to the museum, all the state parks were closed and [HORROR OF HORRORS] the library was closed. Thankfully, we made one last huge library trip right before it shut down, so we’ve had a decent amount of reading material between that, the Libby app and Book Outlet. Book Outlet is a…

The Best Beginner Chapter Book Series
It’s a joyful moment when your child begins reading. But once they begin reading, it isn’t long before they fly through picture books like nobody’s business. At that point, they’ll likely enjoy diving into simpler chapter books. Series are Claire’s absolute favorites! At the end of a book, she is always sad to say goodbye to the characters she’s grown attached to. When she finds out there’s a sequel (or “sequence,” as she calls it) she gets so excited! Once a child finds a series that captures their attention, it just fuels a love for reading that much more. The following series are books that Claire has absolutely loved. Some…

Our Favorite Christmas Books
In case you didn’t know, we love to read. Claire has always loved being read to, even as a baby. I remember her as a 14 month old, sitting and looking at books by herself for 30 minutes at a time. Clearly, I passed on my bookworm tendencies. Last week, I shared about some of our Christmas traditions and ways we are making Christmas special this year (you can read more about that here). One of the things I mentioned was that we were reading Christmas books every day. Some of them were ones we’ve read before, but a lot of them were new to us this year. I thought I…
